The interior of the camper is in very good condition and we did our best to restore it to its original glory (and beyond)*. There is minimal wear and tear on the furniture, with the exception of a small area on the passenger and Drivers seat seat covers. All appliances have been optimized and are working. The fridge and freezer runs on propane or shore power (110V). The camper heater runs on propane and does a nice job of heating the cabin efficiently( Replaced January 2025 @$2,150.00)The 4 burner stove with oven also operate on propane and are both in working order. The 6 Gal Water heater with a self ignited switch is New and is propane operated. The bathroom has a large shower, toilet and a large closet for clothes and storage and a Fantastic remote ($1,150.00 ) fan. Cab Air conditioning works very well. 
The Roof air was recharged when I Bought it however,I only camped in dispersed camping areas. No campgrounds. 
We know the value of the RV and what the market is for these campers at this given quality.

The 22RE engine starts, runs, and drives, but it does not idle well and will need some tuning or diagnosis.

When plugged into shore power, the electrical system clicks and the interior lights pulse every few seconds. The electrical system will need to be diagnosed and repaired.

I have not personally tested the LP gas system, water system, refrigerator, stove, toilet, or the other camper appliances, so they are being sold as untested. Generator recently added. Stars first pull.

I've owned and loved this Sunrader for about 15 years, and put a lot of love in to it.  The engine, transmission and all vehicle systems have been maintained and are in good working order.

The coach systems need some minor maintenance but generally in good working order. With the exception of the fridge which is not currently working.

1988 Toyota Sunrader

1986 Toyota Winnebago

**Update: installed 4 new rear tires on June 25, 2026 so all six tires are new. Forgot to mention the headliner in the cab is new and was installed in March, 2026. 

The short version: "Winnie" is a southern camper which we purchased in Tennessee. We completed a 100% restoration of the coach/cab and have kept the mechanicals in excellent condition with receipts for all work performed and all parts installed. This camper is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition and could easily go to California, Maine (again) or Key West. Camper also has a six lug 1 ton rear axle. 

The long version: We bought "Winnie" in 2021 just outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee and drove her home to West Tennessee. Having spent forty years in the South, there is zero corrosion underneath which is rare for an 86 Toyota. There was some "slight" water damage in the shower area which I began to repair in June, 2021. Just like peeling an onion, the repair grew until I ended up doing a total restoratation of the coach which I completed in August, 2022. During the restoration, I replaced most of the insulation, built new wall frames inside then replaced the entire back wall and entire ceiling including new ceiling beams and added LED lights. I replaced all of the 1/4" luan plywood with new and installed a new luxury vinyl floor. I have over 500 pictures and videos of the restoration and was very careful not to add much weight. 

Since the restoration was completed in August 2022, we have visited 31 states and travelled over 32,000 miles in Winnie without a single mishap while taking somewhere between 65 and 75 overnight camping trips. There are very few vintage Toyota campers on the road and "Winnie" is by far the nicest we have seen. The only reason we are selling is that we bought a new four season travel trailer and don't have space for two RV's.

Personal Story: After two years searching high and low for the “ideal” Toyota Dolphin, I found it in Southern Arizona in August of 2023. There have only been a few owners, each willing to spend money to keep it in excellent condition throughout its life in California and Arizona. This is the rare (and almost unicornish) example of a Toyota RV with no water damage, mostly original vintage interior, lovingly cared for, and rarely used. Selling my 1986 Toyota Escaper with 122,944 chassis miles and approximately 11,400 miles on a documented replacement 22RE long block. The replacement engine was installed at 111,545 miles, and I have the receipt.

It has the desirable six-lug full-floating one-ton rear axle and an automatic transmission with a documented full transmission flush and service.
