4×4 Frame off conversion
Before the coach was turned into a 4×4, extensive reinforcements were made to every part of the Rv. The coach was lifted off the frame where the frame had multiple subframes welded that extended to all corners of the coach. Connecting the coach to the frame are now 4x as many lag bolts connecting frame to coach then was originally was done by Sunrader. The Main toyota box frame was reinforced with C channel towards the middle and an extensive hitch system. The coach floor was remade with 2x 1/2 grade B plywood and closed cell foam insulation then sealed and moisture proofed with deck liner. The connection from the coach to cab was remade with new stainless steel screws and recarpeted for insulation. Custom leaf packs were made that lifted it about 6″. For customized support New 5k air bags were added which gave the rv more clearance and stability specially when loaded. The front end was converted to an FJ80 suspension and straight axle with 4.10 gearing. Custom parts include a rear driveshaft, a 15 gallon fuel cell, 2″ rear hitch with a rear swing out tire carrier, a set of 15″ dually rims with stock lug pattern as well as a spare with new all terrain tires. (15″ wheels have better selection of tires and are cheaper, they also have better hwy speeds and mpg). Some of the Off-road gear includ Off-road rear fenders, husky front and rear mud flaps, DC air compressor ( for airing down tires and air bags), Warn plate steel front bumper, 9.5k winch with a 200ft steel braided, an external remote and interior controls, 2x Rotopax lockable external gas tank capacity.
Coach rebuild
The original Sunrader particle board Interior was completely removed and renovated using Walnut, Cherry and Bamboo. The interior was completely tore down and reinforced, insulated and sound proofed. The floors were rigidified with 1.5″ plywood with 1/2 insulation and were even epoxied and vyniled. The plastic overcab windows, a large source of heat loss and are prone to water leakage have been fiberglassed over and the overcab area turned into a twin bed with a large storage behind it which further isolates/insulates the interior and blocks out heat transfer. The kitchen counter is a fossilized bamboo counter top with a jumbo 30″ stainless steel sink set in. The original stove/oven is refurbished and garnished with a raw copper plate as a backsplash. For insulation, closed cell non toxic foam board was used with real 1/8 oak plywood for the walls. Isolated lighted rear cargo area. Max interior height in the dropped floor basin is 6′ and the rest of the RV is 5,9. There is no stationary toilet inside.
