This was a project I started several years ago. My plan was for an all-original exterior and a completely modern interior. I removed all of the siding on both sides and hammered out the majority of the dents. Rebuilt all water damaged framing.
For the studs I used standard 1×2 pine but anywhere the framing was larger (under windows, rear quarter panels, etc.) I used a very expensive light weight 3/4″ plywood from a manufacturer called Joubert. I also covered both sides with Ty-Vek house wrap prior to reinstalling the aluminum siding. The roof had been caved in a little from the previous owner. I replaced all of the rafters and doubled them up around the emergency hatch. I then covered the entire roof with a TPO membrane for superior water protection. The TPO is still black, would recommend painting it white (do NOT use an acrylic paint).
I have all of the appliances except for the three-way fridge. It was the only part I had not gotten around to purchasing, but I replaced the panels around it for a fridge of the exact same size. All of the copper gas line is still in place. I have every vent cover, water line trim, vent trim, shower trim, etc. I used to work for an experiential marketing company and have acquired several either brand new or barely used parts as well. (we would strip down trailers and campers for brands to use for mobile marketing and acquired lots of expensive RV parts. I have a brand-new toilet, and a barely used 5-gal water heater that is the exact same size to fit the existing location of the dolphin.
As I mentioned I have all of the original parts/equipment. Which all worked when I started the disassembly. Onan generator, heater, electric power station, air conditioner. I also have lots of new upgrades. LED exterior running lights, updated LED interior dome lights. I actually bought a second Dolphin and stripped it for parts, So I even have several extra windows, extra sink, oven vent hood, etc.
I kept the brake booster from the other Dolphin as I know those can be difficult to find and replace. I have 2.5″ beetle kill pine for the new flooring that is included. Beetle kill pine is a beautiful wood with blue streaks through it caused by the infectious beetle.
The 85 dolphin has the RE (fuel injected motor and the dual bearing rear 1-ton axle). My plan was never to sell this so I have far more money and time invested than I know I will be able to sell it for. This is a great deal for anyone looking to do their own flip for an incredible and rare RV for many years to come.
